Job Description

Our client is one of the largest metals distributors in the US. They offer an extensive product portfolio, state-of-the-art fabrication and processing capabilities, and a network of service centers throughout North America and beyond. Their customers can count on them to get the metals they need, when they need them, at a competitive price.

They are looking for area supervisors who have strong leadership ability. This position will be responsible for overall supervision of the production area assigned in their Memphis location. They provide companies in Tennessee and beyond with the metal products they need, when they need them. They carry a vast assortment of metals for a wide range of industries and offer a broad selection of processing and fabrication services. Plate cutting, including widths up to 144 inches, is just one of the specialized services offered in Memphis. But their local inventory is just the beginning, they special order any metals customers need by tapping into their powerful North American distribution network and buying power.

Primary responsibility is overall supervision of the assigned work centers of the warehouse to ensure operational effectiveness and customer satisfaction.

This includes:

- Supervision and motivation of staff and work center leads/foreman
- Promote and demonstrate a safe work environment (compliant with EPA/OSHA regulations) and compliant with RESQ
procedures and CSW environment, health, and safety policies
- Demonstrate a high-level of service internally and externally
- Develop and maintain internal and external customers
- Customer satisfaction management of quality with a 98% on-time delivery requirement
- Management of production metrics, establishing best practices and benchmarking
- Ensure the productive use of resources
- Implement continuous productivity improvements (use of LEAN tools)
- Ability to build a team environment across shifts and departments
- Pro-actively solve production related issues and identify root causes with solutions implemented to correct the problems
- Enforce the Plant Conduct Rules to the warehouse staff as defined, and assign any disciplinary actions as warranted
