Sr Systems Engineer

Our client is searching for a Sr. Systems Engineer (Cisco Data Center Technologies) to join their growing organization in the Grand Rapids area (regional clients, minimal overnight travel).

Key responsibilities:

Evaluates existing data center environments, designs solutions that address business issues, and implements efficient and cost saving solutions for customers
Understand client's infrastructures, their needs and provide expertise and consulting on Cisco solutions
Provide design, implementation and support of Cisco Datacenter technology (Nexus, UCS, ACE, WAAS, MDS, 6500 VSS, and so on)
Provide integration of VMware and/or Storage (EMC or NetApp) with Cisco DC technology (a plus)
Develop and deliver professional proposals, including design documentation
Ability to provide management and account team oral and written reports on the client needs, problems, interests, market situations, competitive activities, and potential for new products/services
Creates and manages the project for key technical deliverables including, but not limited to, capacity planning, implementation, configuration, usage reporting, and allocation to host
Provides guidance regarding architecture and application processes to the engineering team and the project as a whole
Provides pre-sales engineering support to sales team to ensure that all needs of any sales opportunities are fulfilled
Coordinates conference calls for technical issues to provide status of open opportunities and resource requirements to management
Serves as a liaison between company and the customer regarding the implementation and maintenance of Systems
Analyze log files, performance issues, and the production environment for mission critical systems
Provides Level 3 support for all installed platforms and provides operational health of the Open Systems infrastructure and the applications used to control it
Recommends alterations to development and design to improve quality of products and/or procedures

Required skills:
5+ years of related experience in data center systems design, development, verification, and implementation
Strong experience in Cisco solutions (CCNA or higher certification)
Strong skills in Cisco Data Center (Nexus, UCS, ACE, WAAS, MDS, and so on)
VMware and/or Storage experience (EMC or NetApp) is a plus
Thorough knowledge of Cisco products and understanding of infrastructure and best practices
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or the equivalent in experience
Strong interpersonal and presentation skills including client-facing consulting skills
Ability to travel as needed. (minimal overnight travel)
Excellent communication / interpersonal skills, and written communication skills
