Production Supervisor

Job Description

This company makes pickled products preferred by persnickety people. The company's pickles are the #1 selling brand in the southeastern US and a top seller across the nation. Every year, it produces more than 110 million jars of condiments, offering some 80 styles of processed and fresh-pack pickles, relishes, and peppers. The company procures its yearly supply of more than 160 million pounds of cucumbers and peppers from farmers in North Carolina, as well as nine other states and Mexico.

They are looking for a production supervisor who will supervise their department to meet established quality and production performance standards. Areas supervised may be functions of cutting, packing, pasteurizing/capping, finished goods. Candidates should be mechanically inclined and have leadership experience.

They have both night shift and day shift openings available: The day shift roles are in the Mt. Olive NC facility and the night shift roles are in the Goldsboro NC facility.

Responsibilities include:

- Monitor adherence to and assures compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and good manufacturing practices
- Supervise and coordinate all departmental activities prior to the beginning of each shift to ensure on-schedule start-ups
- Assign job tasks to departmental employees as dictated by day-to-day production requirements
- Utilize machinery and personnel to get maximum production and efficiency for each production run
- Work to reduce and eliminate all sources of waste including raw materials, time, and equipment failures
- Evaluate performance and quality of product throughout the run.
- Monitor conditions of all equipment in assigned department
- Write work requests for repairs, needed changes, or additions
- If applicable, maintain departmental forklift data daily
- Assure all forklifts are in working order, review and turn in forklift checklists daily
- Coordinate work activities with other departments in the company
- Work closely with other supervisors to avoid confusion, misunderstandings and resulting downtime
- Meet regularly with Superintendent to discuss problems, opportunities, schedules, safety conditions, and so on
- Review departmental reports for accuracy, completeness, and promptness
- Be accountable for the results of costs, budgets, methods, safety, quantity, and quality of production, operations and
personnel
