Plant Operator Technician

Operate and maintain plant systems and equipment in a process technology plant operating 24x7. Work involves monitoring and maintenance of continuous controls process in control room and plant environment. Excellent training and advancement in pay and position.

The Plant Operator Techs work as a team to run the plant, perform routine maintenance and control the efficiency and quality of the plant during their shift. Each Shift Team is led by a Senior Operator. They foster a strong culture of teamwork and empowerment.

Their mechanical systems and control panels are very similar to those found on a ship, so Navy shipboard engineering techs have historically fast-tracked through the training and qualification program. But other Mechanical and Electro-Mechanical Techs had done very well also.

Shifts: Most plants have 4 shift teams who work a 12-hour shift (6: 00 - 6: 00) working 3 on, 4 off, then 4 on and 3 off with 2 weeks on day shift followed by 2 weeks on night shift.

Pay progresses as you advance through training and qualifying on each system in the plant to Senior Operator. From there the best advance to Supervisor over Operations and Maintenance and then on to Plant Manager.

Start in training (3 months) with pay raises as you advance through Intermediate Operator and on to Senior Operator in 12 - 18 months. First year with overtime will be well over $75k, if not more than $80k. As you grow, your compensation will grow well over 100k+
