Maintenance Supervisor - Utilities
Working knowledge of equipment used to operate power boilers, turbine generators, mill air system, mill water and chlorination system, belt conveyor delivery, and boiler feed water treatment systems would be beneficial in this role.
This position is responsible for labor relations, quality, production, cost improvement and performance measurement of production in a union environment.
You will ensure a safe work environment for employees and through leadership instill an employee involved safety approach.
You will supervise, direct, and coordinate the 12-20-person mechanical maintenance employees engaged in maintenance activities in the department ensuring they are trained, knowledgeable and that they adhere to mill safety policies and regulations.
You will also be responsible for effective employee relations, providing employee coaching and development, and resolving employee issues through problem resolution and contract language.
You will also make sure hourly employees have proper training and tools to meet department goals.
You will need to show you have strong enough communication skills to coordinate with production in preparing maintenance outages, daily work schedules and preventative maintenance activities and insuring proper manning to execute and coordinate outside contractors and consultants as needed to ensure reliability is maintained and to address manpower deficiencies.
You will need to prove you can drive continuous improvement through reliability efforts and root cause failure analysis.
Coordinate maintenance spending with operations and maintenance superintendent to adhere to budget. Other functions are as follows:
- Assist in the development of yearly maintenance plan.
- Manage timekeeping, vacation scheduling, and other activities as they arise.
- Fill vacancies of the area maintenance planner and the area maintenance superintendent.
- Develop operating, process, and reliability improvements through innovation.
- Manage and coordinate project work involving external contractors.
This is a Monday- Friday day shift role that does support the weekend shift about once every 6 weeks or so.
Your normal work week will usually be about 45 hours but it is a 24/7 365 day a year facility so you will also be on call for emergencies and outages.
$100 - $110 base. Great benefits plan including relocation
