Generator Service Technician

Cincinnati, OH

Industry: Business Products/Supplies Job Number: 44107 Pay Rate: $35 - $45k
Job purpose:

Servicing customer generators, including troubleshooting, repairing, performing preventative maintenance and start ups.

Essential job functions:

- Efficient, effective, safe, and economical use of company time and equipment
- Perform maintenance on power generation equipment and automatic transfer switches
- Perform start-up and warranty work on power generation equipment
- Process required paperwork in a timely and complete manner
- Responsible for parts inventory on service truck
- Responsible for the care, cleanliness and upkeep of truck maintenance
- Notify supervisor of any necessary repairs
- Maintain vehicle maintenance logs
- Responsible for cellular phone usage per company policy
- Responsible for care and security of company property, including computer devices
- Participate in a 24/7 emergency on-call service for our customers
- Must track time and attendance daily
- Maintain a library or data base of service-related literature and information
- Provide recommendations and develop strategies on how to improve quality and quantity of services provided to our customers
- Attend meetings as required, including safety and educational sessions
- Ensure a safe working environment and safe work habits of staff
- Help to achieve business and organizational goals, visions, and objectives
- Identify problems and provide alternative courses of action
- Further education to stay abreast of technological changes and develop knowledge base
- Must own hand tools; specialty tools will be provided by the Company
- Performs other work-related duties as assigned

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

- Conforms with the core values of BPS
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license; able to meet and maintain insurance criteria for insurability
- DOT Medical Card
- Technical degree or certifications desirable
- 21+ years of age
- Generator experience preferred
- Military, EGSA, or factory certification highly desirable
- Excellent mechanical aptitude
- Able to comprehend and troubleshoot from wiring schematics
- Knowledge of A/C D/C circuits
- Basic knowledge of gaseous and diesel engines
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with proficiency in English
- Excellent customer service skills
- Able to work well unsupervised; able to work independently
- Good organizational skills and ability to multi-task required
- Computer skills to include MS office products (Word, Excel, Outlook); data entry
- Must represent the company in a positive manner at all times
- Must be able to pass background check and periodic drug screens
