Job Description
This client designs and produces interactive computer controls, software and computerized machine tools for the worldwide metal cutting and metal forming industry (CNC machines). The end market for the company's products are industries such as aerospace, defense, medical equipment, energy, transportation and computer equipment.
They are looking to bring on 2 Field Service Engineers to be based in Indianapolis, IN at their corporate offices. In this position, you will complete machine start up, demonstration, maintenance, and repair services and remote support. They are specifically looking for folks with an electrical or electronics background that have some mechanical inclination. The ideal Field Service Engineer candidate must be customer focused and be able to perform all mechanical and electronic repairs required in a timely fashion while meeting all required administrative requirements.
Primary duties and responsibilities:
- Perform low risk troubleshooting and repairs on the designated equipment
- Perform supervised calibrations, installations, and preventative maintenance
- Read, analyze, interpret, and follow signal flow on blueprints, schematics and wiring diagrams
- Prior to new machine shipmen, t contact or, when required, personally visit the customer to thoroughly review and gain the customer's agreement to install the machine in accordance with company's installation recommendations
- Supervise the erection of disassembled machines in the customer's facility.
Travel:
Role 1: 60-70%. This is a traveling role where you're expected to be on the road 3 weeks or so a month (Monday? Friday, no weekends), and in the office a week or so a month. The company gives you a company credit card and a work truck. Travel is domestic and national.
Role 2: 30% national travel, 70% in offices in Indianapolis doing service-related work on machines and via phone to the customer base.
Training: your first 1-2 months in office, and first 6 months mainly in office with some local travel with a Sr Rep.
