The goal is that if a machine goes down, they can just call on you and you will be able to come fix the problem, whether it was gears that blew, a card that needs to be troubleshot, a transformer that blew, and so on.

This is a shift position. The rotation typically works like this: 5 days on, 4 days off, 4 days on, 5 days off, repeat. You'll end up working only 180 days a year.
