Job Description
The Commissioning Specialist will also be required to provide, facilitate, and coordinate to support overall Service Team objectives when not providing direct support to a customer. The position will focus on customer satisfaction by ensuring contractual obligations are met and equipment downtime is minimal.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Manage and conduct on-site work for Customer Order Projects under the direction of their supervisor
- Conduct research and supporting activities for factory-based product support
- Provide customer service by analyzing and evaluating equipment performance within an assigned area of responsibility
- Coordination of scheduled service responsibilities in conjunction with the management and administrative staff of Service Department
- Provide customer assistance and technical support as necessary
- Develop sound maintenance techniques through system knowledge.
- Perform direct maintenance as required where more complex equipment problems exist
- Understand and help to maintain service contracts
- Maintain and account for tools and test equipment necessary to perform required duties
- Provide machine start-up and installation coverage as a primary function of the role
- Understand and utilize procedures methodically and safely
- Diagnose, document and report problems and technical findings with recommended repair actions
- Provide timely reporting of events, causes and actions related to customer load losses
- Provide necessary assistance to Product Support in an effort to resolve the problem
- Provide rigging and delivery assistance
- Contractor facilitation and installation assistance where possible
- Attend customer site meetings when required
- Facilitate work by electrical contractors for equipment installation
- Perform emergency and/or routine repairs on power generating equipment
- Deliver emergency parts to customer sites when required
- Perform preventative maintenance on all Active Power and Piller equipment including: UPS Systems, frequency converters, diesel controls, switchgear, and battery systems, as trained
- Progressive proficiency in job reporting and communication skills
- Provide emergency customer response by participating in weekly technician on-call schedule
- Complete and submit time sheets, expense reports and job reports within the required time frame
- Attend all formal and informal training courses as directed by the STM or PSTM
- Other tasks, in-house and on-site, as assigned by their STM or PSTM
- Report customer opportunities (such as upgrades, new equipment, and so on to the appropriate sales personnel
- Adhere to guidelines outlined in the Field Service Technician manual, with emphasis on safe work practices
- Facilitate start-up and testing of power generation equipment and switchgear
- Help to ensure service contract files are properly updated, maintained, and managed
- Perform other duties or special projects as required or assigned
